Vacuum Therapy
In males with a well settled partner with severe ED and intolerance or nonacceptance to injections or surgery can use this therapy to achieve adequate erections for intercourse.
This Can also be used by patients with an implant to gain adequate length.
Patients with Peyronie’s disease (penile fibrosis) with curvature and decreased elasticity can also use this vacuum therapy to maintain some of the elasticity as the disease progresses and in some cases it reduces the amount of curvature.
The vacuum pump is either mechanically hand activated or battery operated. The cost ranges from Rs 1000 to Rs 25000 (for battery operated one) depending on the make and quality. Once it is activated and the penis girth and length I seen to increase till there is pain and subsequently the ring is slid proximally to avoid the blood from flowing out and to maintain and erect penis for intercourse.
For therapeutic purposes the device has to be used 2 – 3 times a day for 30 minutes. Every time the pump has to be activated till pain is felt and kept in that state for 10 – 20 minutes. This way the penis is stretched and the curvature angle might decrease with increase in elasticity and supply to the penis.
